God, in his infinite wisdom has seem fit to move from our midst our beloved Elsie Abrahimmi by cancer on February 19, 2008.
The Rose was sick and smiling died;
And, being to be sanctified,
About the bed there sighing stood
The sweet and flowery sisterhood:
Some hung the head, while some did bring,
To wash her, water from the spring;
Some laid her forth, while others wept,
But all a solemn fast there kept:
The holy sisters, some among,
The sacred dirge and trental sung.
But ah! what sweet smelt everywhere,
As Heaven had spent all perfumes there.
We the people of the Northern United Progressive Church, wish the family to know that it is with deep sadness and a sense of great loss that we gather to bid a proper Christian goodbye to our beloved and respected Elsie Abrahimmi. Mother to Alexandra and Joshua, grandmother to Michael, Paul and John who are all devoted Christians.
Whereas, Sister Elsie was a regular and active supporter of the Church.
Whereas, Sister Elsie was a loving and gentle mother who instilled in her family a strong relationship with God.
Whereas, Sister Elsie was a close friend and counselor to the sick and the lost. Someone who always encouraged and showed support to all she counseled.
Whereas, Sister Elsie, whose loss we will mourn, we are consoled by the words of Jesus who said, "I will never leave thee or forsake them. "
Therefore be it resolved that we support and embrace Sister Elsie's loving family by demonstrating our love for her to you.
Be it further resolved that official mourning will be observed for 45 days in which we will say a prayer for her every morning.
We know, dear loved ones of Elsie Abrahimmi that your sorrow is great and that you are sad to see her go. Recognize that our loss is Heaven's Gain.
Dear family, remember that we are all here for you to talk, to remember, to cry and love you all.
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
