This can sometimes prove difficult, as climate, venue, and the distance traveled by the flowers you send can cause them to wilt prematurely. Send Thicker Sympathy Flowers

Sympathy flowers with delicate, thin petals and stems will dry out rather quickly, and thus wilt before the ceremony is complete. Rather look for flowers with fleshy, thick petals that will hold up under high temperatures or dry environments. Lilies are perfect for this, and as they are white in color, represent peace, love, and tranquility. Marigolds and Dahlias also make excellent long-lasting sympathy flowers, as do Carnations. The best colors for Carnations are blue or dark red, while a bouquet of Daisies in a darker color such as purple or red makes an excellent arrangement.

There are some flower arrangements that you’ll want to avoid sending. These are sympathy flowers that don’t hold up well and wilt quite quickly. Roses will lose their petals very fast, while Forget-Me-Nots, though conveying an honorable sentiment, simply don’t last. If you like, you can purchase Forget-Me-Nots fresh on the day of the funeral, as they are quite appropriate to place on the grave. Irises are another to be avoided, as they too will not survive long enough.
