Sympathy verses are a wonderful way to add a personal touch to a sympathy message. These sample sympathy verses can be used in expressing your thoughts to someone on the loss of a brother ...
Brothers are such special people, to have had
one is a gift; They are so much of who we are,
and how we act and feel; What joy we have
from knowing we were a part of them
If we never had a brother, could we really be
the same; Oh yes there are sisters and of course
there's mom and dad, and all of them are dear;
But a brother is so special, it could never be the same
There is a special gift in life that some of us receive;
It's not a fancy car or house or a brilliant jewel to wear;
No, that very special thing is a person, near and dear,
Someone we call "brother", the greatest gift of all

Sometimes a poem, when included with your sympathy message, can enhance the delivery of your sympathy message. Here are a couple of sympathy poems that could be used on this sad event, the passing of a brother ...
To My Brothers
By John Keats
Small, busy flames play through the fresh-laid coals,
And their faint cracklings o'er our silence creep
Like whispers of the household gods that keep
A gentle empire o'er fraternal souls.
And while for rhymes I search around the poles,
Your eyes are fixed, as in poetic sleep,
Upon the lore so voluble and deep,
That aye at fall of night our care condoles.
This is your birthday, Tom, and I rejoice
That thus it passes smoothly, quietly;
Many such eves of gently whispering noise
May we together pass, and calmly try
What are this world's true joys -ere the great Voice
From its far face shall bid our spirits fly.
Born Brothers
By Mark van Doren
Equality is absolute or no.
Nothing between can stand. We are the sons
Of the same sire, or madness breaks and runs
Through the rude world. Ridiculous our woe
If single pity does not love it. So
Our separate fathers love us. No man shuns
His poorest child's embrace. We are the sons
Of such, or ground and sky are soon to go.
Nor do born brothers judge, as good or ill,
Their being. Each consents and is the same,
Or suddenly sweet winds turn into flame
And floods are on us-fire, earth, water, air
All hideously parted, as his will
Withdraws, no longer fatherly and there.
