Words of condolences for a beloved spouse

Dear Janet,

I just got word that your husband passed away the other night.  He was blessed with a serene peaceful death and suffered no pain, so I hear.  What a perfect ending to a life filled with devotion to his beautiful wife for so many decades.

He touched so many people’s lives with his warm smile and kind gentle voice.  When we all celebrated your last landmark wedding anniversary I remember that almost all of your original wedding party  was alive and able to attend.  It was the last time that your family and friends were together and it was a special night indeed.

You say how do I go on without the man that I lived with  for most of my life and my answer to you is that he would want you to carry on with any plans and dreams that you both had with your family and friends.  His spirit will guide you and comfort you and make this possible.  Nobody can take away your decades of memories, those will be yours to put under your pillow at night to help you drift off to sleep.

I cannot take away the terrible pain that you feel right now but know that I am available to listen to anything that you have to tell me and yes maybe we will share a memory or too and shed a few tears in the process.

Sincerely,

Jackie
