Death notices are much shorter than obituaries and usually give very minimal information. A death notice usually contains the person's name, city of birth, time and place of death and some include the cause of death. In addition, the time, date and location of the funeral are included as well.

Sister Joanne Marie IHM of Flint age 68, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ypsilanti. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2008 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, G-5199 Richfield Road, Flint. Fr. Philip Schmitter celebrant. Sister Joanne will lie in state at the church Monday at 10 am until time of service. Following the service, Sister Joanne will be taken to the IHM Mother House in Monroe for a Wake service Tuesday, June 10 at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at the IHM Mother House Wednesday, June 11 at 11 a.m. followed by burial at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Monroe. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Prayer Center. Visitation Saturday 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Road, Grand Blanc. A Wake service will be held 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
